This one is one of the more difficult duels. Hunters are excellent at not getting hit by anything. This one often comes down to mana as well. Good hunters will be hitting you with viper sting until you're OOM. Viper sting is mana intensive for them as well though. So it does ultimately come down to mana. Mana burning a hunter is one of the most difficult things to do. If the hunter is MM specced, he'll use scatter shot and silencing shot to prevent you from getting a mana burn off. If he's BM specced, he'll use intimidation, and if he pops the beast within, you're usually screwed.
Not to mention snake trap, which makes it very hard to get a cast off, feign death, which they can use to interrupt a cast, imp concussive shot, frost trap, it's just about impossible to get a mana burn off if they are good.
So the key is making sure you trinket at the right time. Trinket out of a frost trap or intimidation. You have to try to stay at close range. When you get the opportunity, fear the hunter and his pet. Often the match is decided by what you do during this fear, even if it only lasts 2 seconds. Try to get a mana burn off.
Once the hunter and you are oom, and he isn't casting viper sting anymore, bring out the shadowfiend.
Early on, make sure you keep a DOT on the hunter, and mana burn. Hopefully he runs out before you do. Holy nova his snake trap, they die easily. You may need to use 2.
I've heard that mind controlling the hunter to kill his pet is fun, but it'll be harder to cast that than to cast mana burn.
Other than that, attempt to kite the hunter...if there are obstacles around, like in an arena setting, use line of sight to your advantage. Make the hunter melee you. If they get wing clip on you, it's fine. Start your mana burn then. Make them use their cooldowns to save their mana. Your regen SHOULD be better than theirs, although that will change soon with the update to aspect of the viper.

I have a lvl 14 night elf hunter, and i have been thinking about changing that,i have been looking at a priest and once hit 40 to go shadow, but i was wondering what i should do, to stay with my huinter or to change, if you think i should change plz give me som suggestion on aliance races and classes. thx

The biggest trick about choosing your class, is it's very tough to know which one you'll enjoy the most. The nice thing about choosing a hybrid class like a priest, shaman, druid, warrior, or paladin, is that you can have 2 roles. As a priest, I can respec shadow for a week and do DPS instead of healing. As a hunter, you can really only DPS.
However, if you really enjoy DPSing, going with a rogue, mage, warlock, or hunter can be much more satisfying. This is because they have so many more tools to do that DPS. Having three entire trees devoted to DPS means you have a lot more options for DPS. Shadow priests all are just about the same, whereas you can find 3 different hunters who play three different ways and still do the same damage.
I hope this helps you out. The one thing that I will say about a hunter AND a shadow priest...they are both excellent levelers.
